The book "Violet" contains many excellent poems by Czechoslovak poet Jaroslav Seifert. The whole book is divided into parts such as City of Tears, It's All Love, Radio Waves, The Nightingale Sings Really Badly, and Carrier Pigeons. It either tells the beautiful feelings about childhood and hometown, or expresses the poet's deep sympathy and love for the people, eulogizes the bright and beautiful future, or expresses the nostalgia for relatives and friends and praises the motherland and the capital Prague, or reflects the praise of love and admiration for women. As the Swedish Academy said in its award citation for the Nobel Prize in Literature, Seifert's poetry is "original, novel, and lifelike, expressing the indomitable spirit and versatile image of man's desire for liberation."
