"Traveling to Water Poverty: Diary of the Senses" is the most important masterpiece of contemporary Colombian writer Eduardo Salamea. It is the travel notes of a young man who left home. The seventeen-year-old protagonist "I" was disgusted with modern life, so he decided to leave the prosperous Bogota and "escape" to the Guajira Peninsula by boat. For four years, he roamed on the ship, saw beautiful, mysterious and wild scenery, and kept thinking about the eternal meaning of life and death. This work is considered by critics to be the foundation of Colombia's great literary history. It was once translated into other European languages, but lost its due influence because of World War II. It is a "relict pearl" in the treasure house of Latin American literature.
