Song Yunheng, an astronomer who believes that "romance" is an algorithm bug, had the biggest accident in his life when he adopted a stray dog Tudou, until he met Jiang Yuyuan, a mixed-race detective captain who had to carpool after his car broke down, and who was rich but lived in a police station dormitory.

Purpose: For the protagonist Song Yunheng: The purpose is to break isolation. He originally lived in an absolutely self-consistent but cold cocoon (physical painlessness extended to psychological isolation) constructed from data and logic. The case and the appearance of Jiang Yuyuan forcibly pulled him into a "troublesome" reality full of unpredictability, emotional fluctuations and interpersonal connections. His arc of growth lies in learning to recognize and accept variables outside logic (including emotions, intuition, the kindness and troubles of others), and thereby becoming a more "complete" person, even if this process is like relearning to feel "pain" for him.
