Purpose: A story about how "love incompetence" systematically destroys a most precious connection under the multiple effects of personal personality, social discipline and communication failure. It is both a delicate depiction of a specific youth phenomenon and a poignant metaphor for humanity's universal emotional dilemma. It does not aim to judge right or wrong (Xie Yifeng is irritating and pitiful, Yu Jia is innocent and cruel), but presents the unsolvable and inevitable pain of this dilemma with an almost cruel reality.
