In Xianzhou Continent, everything has strings, and the movement of strings generates "string power", which can control wind and water, shake mountains and fill seas. Three hundred years ago, Tianyin Pavilion, which ruled the mainland, triggered the "War of Broken Strings" due to a rupture of ideas. The pavilion leader died in the battle, and half of the secret codes of string power disappeared. Xianzhou has since been divided: the Chengxian Kingdom in the East Continent adheres to the ancient string technique, with Qin City as its capital, with wind chimes hanging on the eaves and string patterns embedded in the walls, respecting the purity of string power; the Rift Wind in the West Continent The domain believes in the forbidden art of blood sacrifice, with the bone castle as the center, using biological sinews and bones to make strings. The strong enslave the weak as "string slaves", and the bloody crackling wind blows all year round; the north and south wastelands are scattered with "mute" tribes who have lost their string power. They use sign language to communicate with the ground drums. They respect the string technique but fear its disasters.
Ten years ago, when Prince Xiao Che's accompanist Shen Qingci was adjusting the "Dragon Yin String" at the Royal Piano Academy of Chengxian Kingdom, the string suddenly broke, and the flying string wire left a red mark on the back of Xiao Che's hand that would never fade away. After further investigation, the finger was pointed at Shen Qingci's mentor - an old luthier who advocated "the power of strings to benefit all living beings". The old piano master died of illness and Shen Qingci was expelled from Qin City and exiled to the wilderness, severing ties with Xiao Cheen.
No one knows that Shen Qingci has the power of "string hearing": he can hear the vibration of the strings of all things - the "emotional strings" of the human heart (trembling when lying), the "memory strings" of old objects (remaining sounds of the past), and can even predict strings that are about to break. But this talent comes at a heavy price: excessive listening will accelerate the wear and tear of one's own "life string", ranging from tinnitus and vomiting blood to severe temporary loss of consciousness.
Ten years later, in the throat of a mute corpse in the wilderness, half a special string stung Shen Qingci's eardrums - the wind there may still have the same flavor as before...
