"Tobacco Bag" - Defending the Promise with Life
The novella "Tobacco Bag" takes the Anti-Japanese War as the grand background, and uses the time and space spanning the office and society as the perspective to focus on the touching story of my two grandfathers. My grandfather and step-grandpa were captured to build a Japanese wall. When they were on the run, my grandfather risked his life to help his step-grandpa escape, but he was seriously injured and his life was hanging by a thread. Before his death, his grandfather handed the cigarette pouch he carried with him to step-grandpa and asked him to take care of his pregnant grandma. Step-grandpa solemnly took the pipe and made a promise to protect it with his life. Since then, my grandfather kept his promise and devoted his whole life to taking care of my grandma and my father. He also spared no effort to train me to be a talented person. This friendship that spans life and death is touching.
This cigarette bag is a transmission of trust and a testimony of commitment. The two grandfathers sacrificed their lives in the war to illustrate trust and commitment, allowing this friendship and responsibility that spans life and death to shine brightly over the years, demonstrating the brilliance of the perfection and beauty of human nature.
