There are only two tragedies in the world: one is not getting what you want, and the other is getting it.
Human greed has always been a poisonous double-edged sword. When it is tearing apart other people's defenses for survival, the blade has already been quietly embedded in one's own flesh and blood - every compromise in the face of temptation is to personally extinguish one's own shadow in the mist.
In 2030, the meteorite that pierced the sky finally became the sharp blade that opened up the hypocrisy of mankind. The moment it fell to the surface, some unknown radiation grew like a vine. First, the stray cat on the street corner ate the ankles of passers-by, and then the banyan tree in the park crushed the old man doing morning exercises with its aerial roots. When the once docile animals and plants showed their fangs, humans were shocked to realize that they had already fallen off the top of the food chain.
Danger is like a night when the tide overflows a dam, and humanity falls apart in the mud. Some people robbed supermarket shelves into rubble, some pointed guns at their neighbors' heads and demanded cans, and some chained up similar people who broke in in an empty villa. The selfishness that was usually hidden in the folds of the suit and the indifference buried under the polite words were now evaporating with the bloody smell, forming a persistent dark cloud over the scorched city.
But there are always people who want to go against the flow of people and go into the abyss. Wearing rusty protective masks, they stepped on the bones of their companions and broke into the meteorite fall zone, bringing the purple-glossy fragment back to the makeshift camp. Later, this place became the last beacon of mankind - a research institute called "Taidan".
On a snowy night in the fifth year, the blast of the Daidan Research Institute tore through the cold sky. Biological leaks and meteorite energy leaks occurred in the research institute. Two researchers died gloriously, and the research institute disappeared from sight. No one knows what happened that day. Three months later, mutations exploded in every corner of the city. Some people bit their lips in severe pain, and when they opened their eyes, they found that their fingertips could ignite ghost fire; some people smashed the glass during convulsions, and when they stood up again, their eyes were filled with everything-devouring gray. The boundary between "new humans" and "disordered ones" was dyed a blur of blood amid the screams and silence.
Two years later, a group called Dark Dawn surfaced.
