In 1814, during the peace talks in Paris, men from two rival countries reunited.
The British diplomat Arthur Kirkland is calm and restrained and is known for his rationality. However, at the negotiation table, he meets the French representative Frances Bonnefoy, who had a secret love affair ten years ago. Today, they stand on opposite ends of the spectrum - Arthur represents the victorious Allies, while Francis fights for the final interests of defeated France.
However, politics cannot hide old feelings. When Francis reveals top-secret information about Napoleon's possible return, Arthur is forced to choose between his national loyalty and his personal feelings. As the situation worsens, the two men are drawn into a maelstrom of intrigue: Francis is accused of treason, and Arthur faces a court-martial for harboring him.
