Ban Zhao, also known as Hui Ban, also known as Ji, was a female historian, writer and politician in the Eastern Han Dynasty. She was from Anling (now Xianyang City) in Fufeng. Ban Jieyu, who is famous for his poetry and virtues; his father is Ban Biao, a famous contemporary master of history and Confucianism; the eldest brother is the main author of "Hanshu" and another outstanding historian and litterateur after Sima Qian, Ban Gu; the second brother is Dingyuan Hou Banchao, a man of great ambition who devoted his writing to the army and was a great hero in opening up the "Silk Road". Her own achievements include not only continuing to write China's first biographical chronological history - "The Book of Han" - written by her father and eldest brother, but also writing the "Private Textbook for Ban Family Daughters" - "Female Commandments", which has deeply influenced the thoughts and lives of men and women in China for nearly 2,000 years.
