We once thought that the chirping of cicadas on the camphor tree would accompany us forever. Five figures huddled under the shade of the tree, rubbing all the gossip about the future into the summer wind.
But then the wind suddenly calmed down and the sound of cicadas stopped. Some people no longer follow our footsteps, and some people stay forever in a certain summer. Only you and I are left, holding each other's hands in the empty playground.
The temperature of the fingertips can withstand part of the cold, but whenever the wind blows across the treetops, the time we spent laughing together and the unfinished words will always gently scratch our hearts, making our eyes occasionally red when we walk side by side.
