In the last years of Yuanhe, war swept across South Vietnam, and Ganan Ancient Temple became a safe haven in despair.
The abandoned baby Qinghong grew up in a temple, ignorant and innocent but harboring a secret longing for family affection. He is surrounded by his rebellious senior brother Qingyuan, who has deep war trauma in his heart, and an orange cat named Dafu who was rescued by him in winter. After the war, the incense of Ganan Temple was still there, but it was shrouded in a heavy and lingering sadness.
One day, Qinghong met Jiang Hanzhi, a woman in plain clothes with a cold temperament and sad eyebrows. Her figure and the bottomless sadness in her eyes reminded Qinghong of the legend of the "Fairy of Qingshui Town" spoken by his senior brother. Meeting again at the pond behind the temple, Qinghong tried to use Dafu's naivety to dispel Jiang Hanzhi's loneliness. In the drizzle of spring, Jiang Hanzhi gazed at the old willow beside the pond and said "waiting for someone who will never come back", expressing the endless waiting and deep pain crushed by the war.
Qinghong's clumsy comfort seemed pale, but he touched the treasured old quilt that wrapped him, felt the warmth of great blessings, and understood that the morning bells and evening drums of Jianan Temple, the compassion of his teachers, the bonds of fellow disciples, and even the company of a cat were all glimmers of light that grew tenaciously in the embers of war and soothed the scars.
The story ends with the drizzle soaking into the ancient temple and the artistic conception of the heart.
Intention: The dim light caress the scars, and resilience arises from sadness.
