"As a Cloud" is a novel depicting the life and growth of middle school students. The story revolves around four teenagers with very different personalities, Nan Ji, Jiang Miao, Li Zhe and Ling Feng. Nan Ji loves astronomy but is forced to focus on piano; Jiang Miao has a talent for painting but is in trouble due to family poverty; Li Zhe is a top student, but can't breathe under the pressure of grades; Ling Feng is burdened with a heavy past due to the death of his sister. They met in the repressive atmosphere of the school and formed the "Yunji" club because of their common desire for freedom, trying to find their own sky within the constraints of the rules.
Nan Ji plays the piano under the pressure of his mother, but longs to look up at the stars; Jiang Miao paints under the scolding of his father, but can only use stolen paint; Li Zhe studies hard under the expectations of his parents, but almost collapses under the weight of his grades; Ling Feng takes the key left by his sister and tries to solve the mystery of the past. They support each other in the "Yunji" club, make starry sky projections together, resist the school's unreasonable rules, and even challenge traditional concepts at the art festival.
As the story develops, they face more challenges: family incomprehension, school suppression, friends' misunderstanding, and even separation between life and death. But no matter what difficulties they encountered, they never gave up on each other or their pursuit of freedom. On the occasion of graduation, they passed on the spirit of "Yunji" to the next generation, hoping that more young people can bravely pursue their dreams, even if the road ahead is full of thorns.
