In the "wrinkle of time" between modern cities and the old days of the Republic of China, Shen Nian'an, an ancient book restorer, was repairing a damaged diary from the Republic of China period. He developed a bond across time and space with the owner of the diary, Lu Shiyan, an architect who studied abroad in the 1930s.
