On New Year's Eve in 2009, the parents of Shen Xiaoyan, a Harbin girl, were mysteriously poisoned and died. The only survivor, Shen Xiaoyan, was taken in by Father Bai at the Hallelujah Church. As they get along day and night, she develops a secret affection for the ascetic priest.
Six years later, the idealistic police officer Zhou Xun reopened an old case and found Shen Xiaoyan, who had become a trainee nun. Shen Xiaoyan ostensibly cooperates with the memory, but leads the clues to the tragedy of 500 laid-off workers in the Harbin Forest Farm and the embezzlement of state-owned assets.
Zhou Xun conducted an in-depth investigation, but Shen Xiaoyan was evasive. Father Bai has insight into everything and secretly helps Shen Xiaoyan deal with it. His behavior goes beyond clerical care.
The dust-laden truth is revealed: Shen Xiaoyan, in order to protect herself, secretly exchanged poisonous dumplings for her parents on the night her mother planned to poison the whole family, killing her parents. Faced with Zhou Xun's approaching questioning, Father Bai chose to take shelter and eliminated all unfavorable evidence. But all laws are empty, cause and effect are not empty, and the two of them finally received the punishment they deserved.
Intention: All dharmas are empty, cause and effect are not empty
