The main storyline is based on Cheng Xiaozhen giving up her job in Nanjing and returning to Wuhan University to study for graduate school. She met Lu Zhengkai, her crush in middle school, in the village and fell in love and got married. It uses some personnel changes and customs in Xiaogan, Cheng Xiaozhen's hometown as the background, to express her nostalgia for the disappearing simple customs and the yearning for the pure feelings growing up in the rural scenery. This article has nearly 280,000 words and is divided into fourteen chapters. Each chapter is titled with two words from Jinse's poems. Each chapter is divided into ten sections. I hope to use the novel to explain the beautiful emotions expressed in the poem, like the blue field jade, and the loss of time like flowing water. This article pursues the Beijing style represented by Shen Congwen and tries its best to describe the beautiful side of human relationships to express the theme of "beauty makes life truly difficult".
