Su Nian (the heroine)'s parents divorced when she was 10 years old. She remarried to the Lin family with her mother, and lived under the same roof with her stepbrother Lin Yanchen, who was 3 years older than her. From the initial alienation and temptation, to the budding ambiguity in adolescence, to the emotional outburst in adulthood, the two are always bound by their status as "stepbrothers and sisters", and are repeatedly pulled between worldly perspectives and inner desires.
