The flowing water is cool and the broken bridge crosses the road with plum branches. The snowflakes are flying down, like Jiangnan paintings.
My name is Su Ling. My father said: Ling, the name of water; Cong Shui, the sound of Ling. It should be like water, good and beneficial to all things, wise and pure; like plums, tough and not cold.
What I didn't know was that my father had been ill very early and could only remain mentally normal occasionally. My mother said that this was an ugly marriage; so, when I was five and a half years old, my mother took me into a new home.
From then on I became a child without a home.
It was a long time later that I learned the second half of this poem:
White jade and green money are priceless. When I return, the wind blows across the plains, and a little incense follows my horse.
