Reserved and shy x sunny and cheerful
She always sits by the window in the classroom, half of her face covered by textbooks, and her eyelashes hang down like unexpanded butterfly wings. When the laughter of boys came from the corridor, she would quietly raise her eyes, look across the crowd, and fall on the boy who always stood in the light.
He is the figure sweating on the basketball court, and the one who smiles brightest during recess. He will naturally take the chalk she handed him and say "thank you" without realizing that the hand handing him the chalk is clenching the corner of his clothes behind his back.
She filled three notebooks with names that she never said aloud; she memorized the orange soda he casually gave her throughout the summer.
Later, in the graduation photo, he stood in the middle of the first row, smiling so hard that his fangs were exposed; she huddled in the corner of the last row, half of her face hidden behind her classmates.
When the chirping of the cicadas gradually subsided, they realized that some lights were too dazzling, and it was enough to get close. Those that could be quietly blown away by the evening breeze were never left behind intentionally.
That summer ended hastily, just like after he turned around, she never dared to call his name again.
