"Summer Finale" tells the story of how a seventeen-year-old boy, Lin Yu, was completely changed by a figure that broke into his air-conditioned world - Shen He - in that summer that was frozen by the heat wave. When Shen He moved into Lin Yu's house at the request of his father's friend, bringing with him the scorching heat and vitality of the outdoors, Lin Yu's original pale, bookish and slightly alienated summer was suddenly broken. From the startling glance filled with sweat and sunshine when they first met, to the tentative touch on the beach, the secret resonance in music and literature, to the uncontrollable desire and subsequent fear and struggle, the two experienced an unforgettable erotic and spiritual awakening in the scorching summer of an Italian seaside town (or similar setting). This is a story about the first stirrings of ignorant love, the quiet awakening of physical desire, the difficult search for self-identity, and the teenage love destined to be short-lived but eternal in the hot season. The story delicately captures the light, shadow, temperature, smell and sound of summer. From Lin Yu's sensitive first-person perspective, it depicts the whole process between two teenagers from temptation, approach, addiction to the final face of reality and separation.
Intent: The first awakening of same-sex emotions and the difficult process of self-identification in the summer of youth, emphasizing its hot, pure, short-lived but eternal nature like summer.
