In the continent of Verbella, the cursed prophet Cassandra, the wandering mixed-race Lorne and the defected aristocratic pharmacist Veretta met because of intertwined fates. Kassandra's doll devours souls, Lorne's gray wolf bloodline hides the fire of resistance, and Veretta's poison science subverts the rules. The three of them travel together, and gradually discover a deeper conspiracy during the journey.
