When perfectionist architect Shen Yan's modern restoration blueprint collided with photographer Lin Jianqing's persistent protection of historical traces through the lens of photographer Lin Jianqing, an old French Concession house in Shanghai became their battlefield filled with smoke. On a rainy night, an unexpected power outage trapped them in a ruined hall. Under the dim light of the emergency lights, Shen Yan's trembling fingers actually pulled out a yellowed diary from the crack in the peeling wall. The four words "To my light" on the title page penetrate through the back of the paper, like thunder traveling through time and space.
This dusty diary reveals a passionate love that was also out of bounds a hundred years ago. The "renewal" project that Shen Yan insisted on was tantamount to the second burial of history and true feelings in Lin Jianqing's eyes. Witnessed by the mottled brick walls, exquisite mosaics and yellowed writing, two men with very different ideas were forced to face the hidden soul of this old house. In the confrontation and collision, can they understand the courage and affection of their predecessors, and find a path to protect history and the "light" in each other's hearts? A dialogue spanning time and space, a warm healing journey about repair, destruction and redemption, begins here.
