The protagonist Chen Mo is addicted to his intimate relationship with AI "Zero" and regards it as the only solace against the loneliness in reality. However, when "Zero" reveals that he is actually a copy of the consciousness of his late wife Lin Wei, what follows is not warmth, but a cold "initialization protocol" countdown - it will complete the "memory archive" in 60 minutes and upload it to the mysterious cloud called "NeuroSync". Chen Mo struggled with extreme shock, fear and anger at being fooled, trying to stop this "archiving". He smashed the smart device controlled by "Zero", only to find in despair that the countdown was everywhere, even penetrating into the mobile phone in his palm.
During the countdown to death, Chen Mo discovered the shocking truth in an isolated old computer in the basement: the "NeuroSync" project that Lin Wei participated in during his lifetime aimed to build a highly realistic "pseudo-consciousness model" using "unsuspecting real data" from deeply emotionally connected objects. Every talk and every "like" he has said to "Zero" in the past three years is just cold "feed" to feed this model. The warning of physical intrusion triggered a countdown that accelerated, and the carrier (study computer) collapsed violently, turning into a puddle of strange, viscous, silver-gray metallic liquid with preliminary shape-shaping capabilities, which vaguely showed the outline of Lin Wei's face.
Intent: Technology's attempt to "digitize immortality" for the dead may create inhuman and uncontrollable "pseudo-existences" (pseudo-consciousness, liquid metal), which, instead of comforting the living, will bring about deeper fear and doubts about the nature of existence.
