In a bookstore in a southern mountain town, Chu Xiaoxing, whose memory was fragmented, opened the dusty diary. On the yellowed pages were the blazing youth at the beginning of the millennium: military training under the scorching sun, the cisgender boy being carried "parade", the crisp tapping sound of the Internet cafe keyboard, the instructor's gentleness hidden under the harshness, and the boy Sun Jian who suddenly disappeared.
In reality, Chu Xiaoxing, who is trapped in the "half-year memory reset" curse, is left with only the mysterious girl Lin Xi'er and his old neighbor Jia Bo who always peeks at his letters. And in the memory line, the hustle and bustle of high school came to mind: Sun Jian leaving hastily before the military training performance, the water-splashing festival-like melee in the pool, the lights in the literature club's lecture hall, the radio station's "Blue Lotus" looping, and Gu Fei's silent back when changing classes.
When the truth about Sun Jian dropping out of school to work was revealed, and when "going to the camp to find an instructor when he had the opportunity" became a promise that could never be fulfilled, a group of teenagers were scattered by time into scattered stars. The sound of the keyboards in the Audition, the competition among the best, the ambiguity of the "blue-faced confidant", and the migration of cuckoos year after year, together create a midsummer where no one goes to the appointment.
"Youth is like being exposed to a heavy rain. We ran into the sea of people with a smile, but never met again."
