Deserted Tomb Book Ashes
The mountain wind gnawed at the body of the monument, and the two handfuls of loess hugged each other and formed a cocoon in the dusk. She knelt down to form a stubborn monument.
The ashes of paper turned into black butterflies, with unsent letters from home on their wingtips. They fluttered towards the burning dusk, but were crushed into stardust by the night wind.
"I'm here to see you." She smiled softly at the shadow of the monument, her tears turning into mist in the fire.
Those years of running away without looking back have left a scar on my heart.
"If I said I never regretted it..." The wind swept the embers and choked the unspoken words, "Will you blame me?"
As darkness spread over the ridge, only a few sparks remained from the fire.
"I miss you." The last words were torn into pieces by the mountain wind and scattered into the cold stars in the sky.
