Transfer student Shen Nanfeng, who is trapped in the abyss of depression, meets school bully Fu Xizhou, who wraps his scars in a rebellious shell, on a rooftop filled with the smell of smoke and meowing cats. One captures the pain with a paintbrush, the other fights the world with his fists, but in the cracks between each other, the light of the soul is glimpsed - Shen Nanfeng discovers Fu Xizhou's tenderness hidden under the oil paint, which is a childhood pierced by his mother's arson case; Fu Xizhou understands the silence in Shen Nanfeng's sketches, which is the daily life crushed by his father's violence and mother's suicide.
They rescued stray cats together on a rainy night, exchanged antidepressants in the infirmary, and burned "alive" oaths with cigarette butts on the rooftop. When Fu Xizhou broke up with his father because of the art entrance examination, and Shen Nanfeng embarked on the path of psychology to break away from his original family, the two souls labeled as "problem teenagers" used scars as fire to ignite each other's path to redemption: Fu Xizhou's oil paintings were spread out in the corridors of the mental hospital, and Shen Nanfeng's psychological counseling classes were held in the stray animal shelter. The sunflowers and small star tattoos on their wrists would eventually temper the flames that burned them into stars that illuminated the darkness.
