Xie Yaohuan was a female official during Wu Zetian's reign during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Tang Dynasty. She was appointed by Wu Zetian as the censor of Youtai and patrolled the south of the Yangtze River with her sister Su Lingxian. The imperial edict falsely accused him of colluding with Taihu bandits to commit rebellion, and tortured him to extract a confession. Xie Yaohuan preferred death to death. After Wu Zetian heard about this, he went to the south of the Yangtze River and rescued Xie Yaohuan in prison.
