In 761 AD, Shi Siming of Anlu Mountain launched the Anshi Rebellion, and the Tang Dynasty was on the verge of collapse. In 907, Zhu Wen forced Emperor Ai of the Tang Dynasty, Li Zuochan, to abdicate the throne, established the Later Liang, and ushered in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. In 938, General Shi Jingtang of the Later Jin Dynasty ceded the military important Yanyun Sixteenth Prefecture. It was the land of Yanyun Sixteenth Prefecture that had been occupied by the Khitan for more than 400 years.
