Synopsis
"When the Cicadas Cry in Midsummer" is a gay-themed novel focusing on campus life. The story is set on the campus of No. 2 Middle School, and unfolds in an atmosphere full of youthful vitality and ignorant emotions. Lin Zhixia, who has a reserved personality, met the enthusiastic and cheerful Xu Yanzhou in the sunny classroom on the first day she entered the high school campus. The two discovered each other's love for science fiction novels and niche music while getting along, and their common topics brought them closer and closer. At the sports meeting, Xu Yanzhou had an emergency during a long-distance run, and Lin Zhixia desperately ran with him. This experience further heated up their friendship, and ambiguity quietly grew in their hearts. However, after returning from the winter vacation, Lin Zhixia misunderstood that Xu Yanzhou had a close relationship with the transfer student Su Tang. Pain and jealousy made him choose to escape. Until her friend pointed it out and the misunderstanding was resolved, Lin Zhixia mustered up the courage to confess to Xu Yanzhou. It turned out that Xu Yanzhou also loved him deeply. This novel delicately depicts the innocent emotions between teenagers, showing their confusion, bravery and determination when facing love in their youthful years. It explores the understanding of self-emotions in the growth of youth, and the courage to stick to true love in the eyes of the world. The words are filled with warmth and hope. Concept: "Midsummer Knows the Boat" takes the campus as the stage, revolves around the emotional story of two teenagers, and conveys a multi-dimensional and profound concept: - Emotional purity and bravery: Breaking the traditional love narrative framework, showing the budding and development of same-sex love in adolescence, emphasizing that love essentially has nothing to do with gender, but the mutual attraction and fit of two souls. At an ignorant age, Lin Zhixia and Xu Yanzhou crossed gender boundaries, faced their true inner emotions, showed pure love and courageous determination to pursue love, broke the prejudice and constraints of the outside world, and conveyed the diversity and tolerance of love. - Self-awareness and growth: Through the struggles and breakthroughs of the protagonists in emotional confusion, misunderstandings, and conflicts, the psychological growth of teenagers in the process of exploring their own emotions is presented. From Lin Zhixia's confused escape to her brave confession, to the two facing external pressure together, it shows how in loving and being loved, they gradually understand themselves clearly, accept their true selves, and complete spiritual transformation and growth. - The fight against prejudice and the call for tolerance: Taking the campus as a microcosm, it reflects the misunderstandings and prejudices against sexual minorities in society. The strange eyes and discussions encountered by the protagonists in the story profoundly reflect the real plight of the people. It calls on society to give sexual minorities more understanding, respect and tolerance, advocates the elimination of discrimination, and builds a diverse, harmonious and well-intentioned social environment.
