Ke Ran, a sophomore in Grade 5, was at the bottom of the class and was assigned by the class teacher to be tutored by Yan Yu, a top student. Ke Ran has silver-grey highlighted hair and a casual and uninhibited atmosphere; Yan Yu always wears gold-rimmed glasses and has a cold feeling all over his body. In the Red Mansion study room, Ke Ran always breaks the silence with jokes and ridicules. Yan Yu responds coldly on the surface, but is unknowingly attracted by this passion.
Ke Ran's mother from a single-parent family is open-minded and enthusiastically accepts Yan Yu, making Yan Yu feel the long-lost warmth. Ke Ran's friends Zhan Chengqi and Lin Fan, from shock to silent support, became the guardians of their relationship.
The good times didn't last long. Yan Yu's conservative parents were furious when they discovered their son's feelings and put Yan Yu under house arrest. Ke Ran waits downstairs of the Yan family every day, rain or shine; his mother also takes the initiative to communicate with the Yan family. At Ke Ran's insistence, Yan Yu's parents finally compromised.
Yan Yu, who regained his freedom, returned to campus and reunited with Ke Ran in the familiar study room. After graduation, they went to a city where same-sex marriage was legal for further study. Years later, they got married with the blessings of relatives and friends, making their relationship that had overcome many obstacles finally come true.
Purpose: Through the story of Yan Yu and Ke Ran who stick to each other despite family resistance and social traditional concepts, it shows the pure essence of love that is not bound by gender or identity, and encourages people to break their inherent perceptions and bravely pursue true emotions.
