Lu Zhiyao: A prickly art student whose old piano injury hides the mystery of his drowning
Shen Xinghe: A perfect top student, with digital scars on his adoption certificate
In the autumn of 2012, the iron mailbox in the psychological counseling room of Lantau Middle School was suddenly covered with blue wind chimes. This corner, known as the "anonymous tree hole", has become a secret breathing outlet under the repressive system of key high schools. Here, no one knows whether the person who submitted the letter is the top student crying in his locker or the repeater smoking on the rooftop.
As one of the first defenders of the Tree Hole Project, Shen Xinghe would think of that rainy night when he was sorting out letters every night - Lu Zhiyao, who was soaking wet, stuffed the torn medical certificate into the mailbox, but sat next to him as a transfer student the next morning. When a top student discovers that someone always uses a pencil to sketch a whale crashing into the sea on the back of an anonymous letter, and a young teenager can always accurately retell the fragments of letters from tree holes in psychological lectures, two teenagers who have been burned by their original families begin a dangerous identity guessing game.
The model student in the key class hid a tampered adoption certificate, and the old piano wound on the left hand of the artistic student was engraved with the coordinates of his mother's drowning. They shared the same mint candy at the rooftop vent, and put together a plaster statue smashed by their parents in the ruins of the piano room, until the tree hole project faced a shutdown due to a certain letter of complaint.
On New Year's Eve that year, the two buried a time capsule under a century-old banyan tree: 387 unsent encrypted letters, 3 unfinished music scores, and a steel ruler engraved with "We are anonymous to each other, we are true to each other." When the Tree Hole Project was upgraded to a national campus psychological mutual aid app ten years later, the whale on the login interface held a pen icon in its mouth, still waiting for the ultimate secret that could only be unlocked by entering the correct function equation.
Purpose: In the torn between anonymity and exposure, we will open up the hidden growing pains of teenagers under the contemporary educational dilemma, and witness how scarred loners use the reflection of each other's pupils to complete the gentle debridement of original scars.
