In order to save her seriously ill mother, 19-year-old He Jing dropped out of school and went to the city to join relatives, but was kicked out of her home. Under the clock tower, she met Xu Shiyi, an urban white-collar worker who looked exactly like her, whom she had met once on the train. Xu Shiyi took in He Jing, and the two lonely people began to live together.
He Jing filled every corner of the rental house with diligence and smile, and Xu Shiyi gradually got used to having hot meals and chatting when she came home. An accident on the night of a typhoon makes them discover each other's feelings. The hair dyed the same color and the hair hidden in the buttons are all evidence of their love.
Three years later, He Jing's mother discovered their relationship. The filial He Jing reluctantly broke up, but unfortunately suffered a car accident. Xu Shiyi put on He Jing's clothes and pretended to be her to take care of the gradually blind old man, until she finally called out "Mom" for her.
At the end of the story, Xu Shiyi took He Jing's favorite plaid shirt and jumped into the river from the bell tower where they first met. Like two leaves written wrongly by fate, they finally found the same direction in the river.
