"Shadow City: Lost in the Dark Night" revolves around the suspense novel writer Lin Yue and embarks on a thrilling and suspenseful journey in Lin'an City.
Lin Yue returns to her apartment in the old town after a book signing. She encounters a power outage and hears strange whispers. She sees a woman in white with no facial features outside the window, and then sees her in the reflection of coffee in a cafe. She also receives a mysterious threatening phone call. Out of fear, she asked her journalist friend Su Ran for help and moved to her parents' house for temporary shelter.
Su Ran informed Lin Yue of rumors that a young woman, Lin Wan'er, had disappeared in the old city, and the two decided to go to Lin Yue's apartment to investigate. In the apartment, they found strange graffiti, heard cries and saw a little girl with no facial features, and were frightened. Afterwards, they learned about Lin Wan'er's case from the police station, and found the abandoned factory based on Lin Yue's childhood memories, where they were chased by a strange doll.
Although Su Ran was timid, Lin Yue was determined to continue the investigation. She found the diary in Lin Wan'er's old residence and learned that Lin Wan'er discovered the secret of the mysterious organization's evil experiment on immortality in the old city. Lin Yue and Su Ran followed the clues to the abandoned church, accidentally fell into the basement, and met a mysterious man in black robe. The man in black robe wanted to harm them, but at the critical moment Lin Yue triggered the mechanism. After fighting with the man in black robe, the two successfully escaped and called the police. The police captured the man in black robe and destroyed the mysterious organization.
However, things did not calm down there. Lin Yue was led to a dilapidated yard by a little girl without facial features, and was almost dragged in by a hand extending from an ancient well. Su Ran and the police arrived in time and went down the well to find Lin Wan'er's sister Lin Wanqing in the secret room and the crystal coffin. Lin Wanqing told how she was framed and sealed by a mysterious organization. Everyone finally helped her calm down her power, and Lin'an City returned to peace. Lin Yue also incorporated this experience into her creation.
