The Li family has a youngest son who loafs around all day.
The Liu family has a youngest daughter who’s lazy and loves to eat.
The families arrange a match. The two are a perfect fit, each finding the other pleasing to the eye, and they happily get married.
They think they’re made for each other. After the wedding, they can happily live off their parents together, and neither will blame the other for being unambitious.
But those good days don’t last two years. After their daughter, Li Kui, is born, everything changes.
This girl can eat far too much! A normal baby drinks one bottle of milk per meal, but even three bottles aren’t enough for her. If she’s still hungry, she screams at the top of her lungs, loud enough to lift the roof.
Well, that’s that. Their daughter eats too much for them to keep sponging off their parents, so the couple have no choice but to drag themselves out to earn money and raise their child.
Li Kui has traveled back from the apocalypse to the 1980s, becoming a baby born in 1980.
Her superhuman strength has come along with her, too, and as she grows older, her appetite will only get bigger.
The few pennies her parents earn each day aren’t even enough to fill a gap between her teeth.
With starvation looming, Li Kui declares that this won’t do. She has to go out and find food for herself.
Just then, a film crew passes through looking for actors. They need a child performer with some martial arts skills, and they’ll provide all the food she can eat, plus a salary.
As soon as Li Kui hears this, she hangs her milk bottle around her neck, puts her little hands behind her back, and marches off to audition with her head held high.
From today on, she’ll earn her own food money!
