The plot of this story will revolve around the journey of two girls from a small town in the south of the Yangtze River to the outside world, facing personal choices, family responsibilities, emotional entanglements and self-growth.
Fei (one of the protagonists): Born in a poor rural family, her parents are farmers. She is diligent, strong, smart and independent. Fei's biggest characteristic is her strong desire for knowledge. Despite her poor family conditions, she still strives to pursue her ideals, especially wanting to get out of the countryside and change her destiny. She looks simple on the outside, but has big dreams on the inside.
Mei (one of the protagonists): comes from a relatively wealthy family, and her parents are rural doctors. Mei was gifted and intelligent since she was a child, and her family was in a better position. She lived a relatively comfortable life, received a good education, and showed different talents very early. She is elegant and smart, but sometimes she seems too conceited. Especially when facing Fei, she often has an invisible sense of superiority.
Neither of them can escape the influence of their families. Fei's family is poor and conservative, while Mei lives in a family that looks glamorous but also has its own contradictions. Family expectations, pressure, and the constraints of fate are huge challenges that the two girls must overcome.
