Snake Plissken is a former Special Forces soldier who is incarcerated in a massive prison on Manhattan Island where he is serving a life sentence for a bank robbery. Now he only has 24 hours to rescue the president, and only 24 hours to be with her.

①S. D. Bob Snake Plisken is a former U. S. Green Beret lieutenant who served in the army. He was deployed to the Soviet Union during World War III, a war between the Sino-Soviet Alliance and the United States, where his actions in Leningrad and Siberia earned him two Purple Hearts; at the time, he was the youngest service member to be awarded the Medal of Valor by the President of the United States. Plissken was subsequently discharged from the Army and turned to a life of crime, in part because he believed he had been betrayed by the U. S. Federal government during a ruse in Leningrad that resulted in the loss of his left eye and the death of Plissken's parents at the hands of police during a failed hostage rescue operation.
② He traveled with his comrade and only friend Bill Taylor. "That's the abridged version of the beginning of the Escape from New York movie, where he and Snake robbed a bank and were killed. Snake looked at Bill's body in the subway aisle and had to raise his hands and was caught.
③Snake's partners are Harold and Bob. Around 1993 in Kansas City, Blaine apparently had Plisken and Fresno Bob surrounded by police, and Fresno Bob was brutally tortured and killed by the police.
④ After his daring escape from New York, Plissken found himself in Cleveland, where he met two new partners in crime - Jack "Kajak" Malone (later known as Hershey) and Texas Mike. Later, Texas Mike was killed and Kajak was captured. Plissken escaped capture and traveled to the U. S. Territory of New Vegas, Thailand, where he became a hired gun. He was eventually arrested by U. S. Police and taken to California, where he was scheduled to be deported to Los Angeles - now an island because the San Fernando Valley was flooded in the earthquake and a place of exile for criminals and undesirables.
⑤ As a result of the Kansas City incident, the criminal community generally believed that Plissken was dead. This is a running joke in Escape from New York: "I Heard You're Dead" (an homage to the John Wayne film Big Jack).
⑥Plisken has a tattoo of a cobra on his abdomen. Due to his military training, he is proficient in martial arts.

Snake appears to be extremely cynical, most likely due to the hypocrisy of the US government, and seems willing to do anything to survive. Others often say that he is a bit world-weary. He was laconic, stern, taciturn, with nothing sacred or even important. However, he does have a loose code of honor.
He often displays calm thinking in extremely stressful situations. While he will kill without remorse or hesitation, he will not kill for fun or when it is not necessary. He is also known for his wit and dark humor.
