Madness in Motion

Yu Wanghe met a madman. This madman wanted her to love him. And only him. - When they first met, she woke up in an unfamiliar place. The madman was leaning back on the sofa. He whistled at her and praised her cheerfully: “Your skin is so fair.” Heavy snow blocked the roads, and Yu Wanghe had nowhere to go. She was forced to eat and live with this madman for four days. Every night, her skin burned with heat. Her heart raced like a bird beating its wings, frightening her even as she instinctively grew addicted to the feeling. When the snow stopped, Yu Wanghe returned home. Under her parents’ coercion, she had to marry a man. On the wedding day, the moon quietly rose above the treetops. Yu Wanghe couldn’t sleep. She was utterly despondent, and she had long since run out of tears. So when she saw the madman appear in her room, she rushed over and clung to him almost instantly. He cradled the back of her head with one hand and kissed her fiercely, tenderly, several times. Yu Wanghe asked, “Will you take me away?” The madman answered gently, “I’m here to elope with you.” When everyone opened the door at dawn, there was no one in the room, only a window that had been horribly smashed. The madman had taken Yu Wanghe away. No one could find them. - The farther north they went, the colder the weather became. Whenever Yu Wanghe couldn’t sleep, the madman would hold her and tell her stories. When he finished, he would press her against his chest, letting her rest against his warm body, and say, “All right, little one.
