I first read Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind when I was twelve or thirteen years old.
I don't understand why Scarlett and Rhett can't have a future…
This is the first time I have experienced such a heart-wrenching story in a literary classic.
They are so in love and so evenly matched,
But I can only miss it, and it ends with regret...
Maybe it's the "Tomorrow is another day" at the end that gives me strength,
By chance of this writing class (2021.11.07),
A continuation of the regrets I felt when I was young.
But now that I think about it,
Perhaps the original ending had more meaning in the blank space.
Such a strong "he" is just wishful thinking on the part of our readers.
Today, look at the present moment again,
Scarlett - such a powerful woman,
Perhaps it is her unyielding yet full of hope,
Only then shines brightly in the history of literature.
Intention: Don't be afraid of the future.
