Luo Minghan had never imagined she would marry Xie Yu.
She was the beloved third daughter of the Luo family. Their family’s jewelry business was thriving, and she had always lived a pampered life of luxury. She might be a little spoiled, but if she couldn’t marry a promising young official, surely she could at least marry into a respectable, well-off family on equal footing with her own.
Xie Yu, on the other hand, came from an unremarkable family and had no official position. He was just a poor scholar. As far as Luo Minghan was concerned, he had a handsome face and a natural gift for studying, but he still wasn’t good enough for her.
Unfortunately, marriage was a matter of parental orders and matchmakers’ arrangements. Reluctantly, Luo Minghan married him anyway.
After the wedding, Luo Minghan couldn’t be bothered to give Xie Yu a kind look. She wouldn’t even let him into her room. Xie Yu, for his part, was focused on his studies and preparing for the examinations, so the two of them remained coolly indifferent to each other.
Then one day, Luo Minghan had a dream. She dreamed that Xie Yu wore a scarlet official robe and came and went from the palace, while officials of every rank stood respectfully to one side. What an imposing sight!
The next day, Luo Minghan carefully dressed herself up, carried a bowl of sweet soup to Xie Yu’s study, and greeted him with a radiant smile, no longer wearing her usual scowl. “No matter how busy you are, you still have to take care of yourself, my lord.”
Xie Yu paused his writing and looked up at her. His expression gave nothing away, but inwardly he wondered what the restless young miss was up to this time.
A few months later, Xie Yu indeed placed third in the palace examinations and was reunited with his biological father, Prince Yu. His future now shone brighter than anyone’s, and no one could rival his sudden fame.
He was also exceptionally handsome, and the noble ladies of the capital couldn’t help lamenting that Luo Minghan had gotten to him first. But then they reminded themselves that she was a spoiled merchant’s daughter from a small town, and their marriage probably wouldn’t last.
Even Luo Minghan herself couldn’t help wondering the same thing. Xie Yu had always treated her with cool indifference. What if he grew completely tired of her one day?
If that was the case, she might as well cut her losses early. With her family background and looks, Luo Minghan was sure she could find a better husband.
She happily settled on her decision and immediately packed her things, planning to leave and have someone discuss a divorce later.
But as soon as she opened the door, she saw Xie Yu standing in the corridor. He glanced at the luggage behind her and asked in a quiet, plaintive voice, “Are you planning to break your promise and leave me behind, my lady?”
Coming soon: Ordered to Marry My Mortal Enemy
Blurb:
Xu Yuanzhen had transmigrated into this world eighteen years ago, and only now discovered she had a System. The first thing it told her to do was kill Meng Pingyou, the hot new favorite in court.
Xu Yuanzhen: “You’re telling me, a sheltered young lady from the household of a fifth-rank official, who can’t even truss a chicken, to kill Meng Pingyou, the lofty Grand Tutor of the Crown Prince, who has the Emperor’s personal favor?”
After getting her answer, Xu Yuanzhen drew a sharp breath and fell backward onto her bed. As expected, getting up too early really could make you hallucinate.
But after fainting for no apparent reason several times, Xu Yuanzhen had no choice but to accept the mission through her tears.
So when Prince Rong’s son was sabotaged by a villain and broke his leg, Xu Yuanzhen declared righteously, “It was Meng Pingyou! He ordered it!”
When someone dug up the ancestral grave of the Vice Minister of War, Xu Yuanzhen cried out indignantly, “It was Meng Pingyou! He gave the order!”
When assassins appeared during the Emperor’s procession and the whole city was searched for them, Xu Yuanzhen fanned the flames: “It was Meng Pingyou! He planned it!”
Instead, rumors that Xu Yuanzhen loved Meng Pingyou but couldn’t have him, and had turned to hatred, spread more and more wildly. Even the Emperor heard about it. With a grand wave of his hand, he cheerfully announced that he would bring the pair together.
Xu Yuanzhen was close to tears. It seemed she would have to take care of this herself.
Meng Pingyou had spent more than a decade painstakingly working his way to his current position. He hadn’t done it for power or wealth, but to see justice served.
He had no idea where Xu Yuanzhen had come from, but she kept ruining his revenge plans time and time again.
Helpless, Meng Pingyou had no choice but to petition the Emperor for permission to marry Xu Yuanzhen. Keeping her tied to his side was better than letting her run around causing trouble.
But one day, after Xu Yuanzhen fainted and slowly came to, she weakly said, “Here’s how you should get your revenge.”
