Mo Juan traveled to 2030 and was appointed as the director of the Yuncheng City Regulation and Self-regulation Bureau. After 35 years of unfair treatment within the system, she now begins a chapter of revenge.
Mo Juan, an ordinary but tenacious retired female employee, uses her life experience to depict for us a world of officialdom that is both real and magical. Those seemingly glamorous officials are engaged in various unknown transactions overtly or covertly. Their honor and status are often based on hypocrisy, greed and exploitation of others.
From Mo Juan's perspective, officialdom is not entirely dark. In the chaos and absurdity of officialdom, there are always some people who stick to their beliefs and principles, and they use their actions to interpret true honor and morality. These people are still able to maintain a clear mind and independent thinking when facing temptation and pressure. They are not moved by money and power, but only live for the ideals and beliefs in their hearts.
