The story takes place in a fictional ancient dynasty called "Xuan Jin". In this world, the two realms of gods and demons coexist, but human beings are weak and can only rely on powerful monks to protect their homes. The dynasty appears prosperous on the surface, but in fact there is a surging undercurrent. The old hatred between gods and demons has not been resolved, and turmoil is about to break out. According to legend, the dynasty has a secret "Night Candle Guard" who perform secret tasks for the royal family, and each of them is equipped with strange forbidden arts.
