To say that the world is huge, there are many wonders. I have heard of such a strange book, which records a large number of interesting stories about strange people from ancient to modern times. It is similar to "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" and "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio", but its author cannot be identified.
I have been fond of strange stories since I was a child. When I learned about this book, I was very interested in it. I wanted to spend a lot of money to find this strange book, but I got nothing.
It wasn't until an exclusive literary exchange meeting twenty years later that I accidentally learned that this strange book was circulated in a certain area in the southwest. So I quickly drove there that night, climbed into the steep and closed village, and asked everywhere. The locals were quite hostile to outsiders. It took me several days to dispel their concerns and find out that they did not know any strange books, but there were indeed some "stories to put people to sleep" passed down from word of mouth. I was overjoyed and immediately wanted to pay them to tell me these stories. Unexpectedly, they refused to recognize the money, so I thought of a compromise and exchanged the money for various daily necessities and visited again. This time, they gladly accepted my supplies and enthusiastically told me those mysterious stories, including fairy foxes and mermaids... I was fascinated by them.
Finally, I decided to record these anecdotes in a book as a souvenir and for other interested people to read. Because some stories are too general or too complicated, and due to my later polishing and processing, some stories may be slightly different from the original rumors, but their overall direction and emotional connotation will not change. I roughly sorted out twelve stories, including: Mayfly, Twin Jade, Monk, Mermaid, Phoenix, Narcissus, Ghost, Orchid, Painting Essence, Fox Fairy, Thousand Gold and Jade Rabbit. I named them "Twelve Ancient and Modern Anecdotes". If you are interested in them, you can briefly read one or two.
