Little Octopus × Gill Man

As the sea water rises, the continent sinks faster. Human beings have no time to build land, so they can only build underwater cities while moving to higher places.
The continent has sunk for many years, and it is no longer an option for humans to live in underwater cities, so they decided to adapt to underwater life through directed evolution through genetic modification.
Little Octopus's grandparents were the first batch of modified humans, a test batch, and they were in the same group as Octopus. After the transformation, because they could not adapt to the oxygen-dry life in the city, most of these modified humans chose to return to the sea and left the human habitation.
After several batches of modified humans, humans finally developed genes for targeting gills and webs. So everyone participated in the transformation and became gill people. The protective shield of the underwater city is wide open.
The baby octopus was born in an octopus group far away from human beings. Because octopuses have the ability to self-edit genes, the baby octopus can change its shape at will. As long as it has the genes, it can transform into the corresponding species of octopus. It can even transform into a half-female octopus while retaining the human Y chromosome (because I really like that blanket octopus. It is so beautiful, but only the female looks like this. The male is small and short-lived, sad).
I met the Gill Man when I was asked by my grandmother to visit my relatives in the underwater city.
