The first time they met, Zhenwu was traveling around the world and happened to encounter the Flower God Festival in Yangzhou. He played the role of the God of Flowers and danced on the parade car. On the night of farewell, the city of Yangzhou was filled with lanterns. Zhenwu was playing on the street wearing a golden mask that half covered his face. He accidentally bumped into a child. When he looked back, the golden mask fell off and he caught a glimpse of Xiao Duanfeng.
When they met for the second time, Zhenwu sat by the stream and put his hand into the stream to attract fish to stay. Xiao Duanfeng ran to the river alone to relax because of his worries. Zhenwu relieved his worries and gave him a plum branch when parting.
When they met for the third time, Xiao Duanfeng was the prince of the immortal world and was displaced due to civil war. Zhenwu rescued him by chance while doing a mission in the lower world. When parting, Xiao Duanfeng still kept the three thousand years of love deep in his heart, because that was the person he loved most in his heart.
