I dreamed that my consciousness was in a tree.
I felt that my body was embedded in a tree, but I lost my perception and only felt that I was a tree.
I feel as if I have very lush branches and leaves, and there are many other plants around me that are equally lush. No matter how much more, I don't know. My consciousness is in a tree, and I can only feel what a tree can feel. I didn't even know that I was a tree, but when I woke up I remembered that I had seen trees and I recognized them as trees. But what kind of tree is it? I don't know, trees don't have nervous systems, and of course they don't have proprioception. I only know that I am there, and there are many beings similar to me around me. I feel neither the movement of my own life nor the movement of life of other beings - not even if an insect bites my leaves or a bird builds a nest in my crown.
Maybe in another universe I am a tree.
I dreamed that I was a tree, and maybe the tree dreamed that it became a person.
Purpose: The title of the book is taken from the allusion of "Zhuang Zhou's Dream of Butterflies", which uses the protagonist's different situations in the multiverse to illustrate the vagaries of life.
