Three parallel narrative lines, a family tragedy spanning thirty years:
Xiaolei Line: Programmer Fu Bin and his wife Xiaolei have been together for half their lives, from campus to wedding dress. Until Xiaolei's cousin's son Maomao disappeared, layers of lies were revealed - cousin Shasha had already committed suicide by jumping into the river, and Maomao also drowned in Yujiawan. Xiaolei suffered a nervous breakdown after learning the truth at her mother's funeral. She was hit by a coal truck while burning paper in the early hours of the morning, leaving Fu Bin alone for the rest of his life.
Salsa Line: Zhang Shasha, a rural girl, dropped out of school for her younger brother and married handsome gangster Yu Bingquan, thinking she would seize happiness. After marriage, her husband became sexually active and violent, and her son Maomao was born with mental retardation. After Maomao was taken to the river by her husband's nephew and drowned, Shasha collapsed completely. She was betrayed even after becoming pregnant again, and finally committed suicide by jumping into the river in a daze. She did not know until her death that the person who killed her husband was her son who had been missing for many years.
Mao Mao Xian: The spiritual consciousness was reincarnated into Mao Mao, a mentally retarded child who was rejected and forgotten. After falling into the water, he was rescued by an old fisherman, named Doudou, and learned to kill fish for a living. After Zhu Jiangang's death, he embarked on the road to find his mother. He met the pregnant Shasha at the entrance of the village. When he witnessed her quarreling with Yu Bingquan, he saw his father as a big fish in the hallucination, beat him to death with a shovel, and then jumped into the river and returned to being a fish.
Three lines intersect in Yujiawan - mother and son died in the same river, not knowing who the other was until their death.
Concept: a story, three perspectives, four lives
