Eli was born a mutant.
From a filthy cub curled up in a box to an invincible desperado in a beast cage, he had already thought of the ending for himself: falling alone in a pool of blood, with his legs broken, and dying with his eyes open. His own blood and that of his kind are equally sticky and disgusting. The staff will drag him away in disgust, and no one will gently close his eyelids for him.
It wasn't until one day that he was taken out of the beast cage by David Morekar, a high-ranking nobleman of the empire, that Eli realized belatedly: Once out of hell, he would never have the courage to look back.
