Beatrice is Isabella's twin sister, and the Swanns borrowed the names of the Duke of Ferrara's d'Este sisters when naming them.
Beatrice is also worthy of the title of Beatrice d'Este [the most talented princess]. Isabella often lamented that her parents concentrated all the advantages on her sister, while she was full of their shortcomings.
But the relationship between the two sisters has always been very good. Although their preferences are very different, even Isabella has to admit that Beatrice is an excellent partner when it comes to getting along - as long as they don't always compare them together.
