In the early years of the Republic of China, Zhao Yi'an, a female middle school student who went to study with her aunt in the UK, was suddenly called back home by a letter from her father saying that her mother was seriously ill. On the cruise ship returning home, Yi'an fell in love with Wu Yiu-chen, a fellow Hong Kong college student, and tasted secret love for the first time.
