"Have you ever officially seen your own shadow?"
The moonlight on July 15th could not shine into any window of Sunshine Community.
Ten years ago, every July 15th, someone would die: someone was blown up in the kitchen until their bones were indistinguishable, someone fell from the rooftop with a torn test paper in his hand, and someone was chased and hacked by a loved one - all surveillance cameras captured the same scene: behind the deceased, trailing a black shadow thicker than the night, wrapped around his ankles like a living thing.
Xu Jiyue moved out from here.
Ten years later, she became an author of suspense novels who had no inspiration, and returned to her hometown to ride on the popularity of "Murder in the Community". But the further she walked in, the more she felt something was wrong: the musty smell floating in the corridor seemed to have been smelled somewhere before, and the lines between the bricks in the corners made her inexplicably panicked. Even the "Taoist priest" Xu Yezhao she met by chance sounded like a vague silhouette of her childhood.
What was even more frightening was that she began to see the dark shadow frequently.
Sometimes in the mirror, the shadow was wearing old clothes that had been washed white; sometimes in dreams, the shadow was throwing something into the water; until a new corpse was added to the community, the way of death was exactly the same as the plot of the novel she had just conceived - only then did she realize: she was not writing the story, but the story was pushing her.
The truth is often deepest in people's memories
"The black shadow stretched behind her and gently hooked her wrist."
