A Bowl of Water (Script) Synopsis
During the Anti-Japanese War, the main force of the Japanese army was trapped in the Changzhi and Licheng areas, waiting for reinforcements. The Japanese army sent the Yamazaki Brigade to detour around the Fotang Valley and Chefo Valley in Shexian County to reinforce the main force of the Japanese army. The 398th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army set up an ambush in this area to eliminate the Yamazaki Brigade, turning the Eighth Route Army's strategic deployment from confrontation to counterattack.
The play shows the water-treasure complex of the people of Fotang Village who "would rather give up a life than a bowl of water." Through the exchange of marriages between the Yang Laoguan and the Donkey Hunchback, the Japanese army came to the Fotang Valley area to survey the terrain and went to Yang Laoguan'er's house to look for water, injuring Xiuqin. Political Commissar Li came to Fotang Village to mobilize before the battle and went to Yang Laoguan'er's house to find water and treat Xiuqin's injuries. Through the sharp contrast, the people of Fotang Village understood that the Eighth Route Army was a team that fought the Japanese for the common people. The common people spared no effort in life and voluntarily donated water to boost the confidence of the cadres and soldiers, and achieved a great victory in the Chefogou ambush battle.
